Whew! I'm done!
I had Jury duty the first part of the month. From Wednesday June1st to Tuesday June 7th I was summoned to serve on a jury of my "peers" to deliberate on a civil suit between 3 neighbors. After being there every day and paying close attention I started to feel that I really knew everyone!
My advice after serving a jury and taking 5 hours to come to a verdict:
1: ALWAYS check references and ALWAYS make sure you're working with certified professionals (try not to take people 100% by their word)
2: ALWAYS get a receipt/invoice (I mean...really??)
3: Do NOT write anything that will incriminate you and then allow it into evidence (ie. a contract)
4: Make sure you know your neighbors names!! (so embarrassing)
5: To the lawyers: Do not keep old men on the jury, they take EVERYTHING literally and go completely on assumptions! (so annoying)
6: Try to get a job that PAYS for jury service...(Unbelievable! I lost 1/4 of my monthly paycheck to "serve" my country)
