Evaluating my Hours

Music is such a sincere and deep part of my life that every passing minute is filled with the thought of singing, dancing or playing a musical instrument.

Although music is just about the only thing I want to do, I find that my busy/hectic lifestyle stunts that growth.  I have a weekly schedule that I stick to that doesn't seem very movabel:

Monday: Work 10 hours, go to moms for dinner & hang out
Tuesday: Work 10 hours, Gym for 1 hour, dinner, relax with husband
Wedensday: Work 10 hours, rush to friend house, eat dinner on the way, hang out with girlfriends

FridayWork 10 hours, date night with hubby
SaturdayGym for 1 hour, get ready for day, This day usually involves driving somewhere for something, friends party, family dinner, dog sitting, friends hang out
SundayChurch and the rest of the day is up in the air

I know is seems that I may a few gaps in here and there, but with working 50 hours a week, driving over 6 hours a week in traffic (about 30-45 minutes each way to work, so 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour round trip EACH DAY)  That's over 60 hours of my life that revolves around work.  Between Monday and Friday there are 140 hours, I spend 43% of my week either at work, or driving to/from work.

I sleep 6-8 hours a night which is about 30% of my day, so that 27% of my day where I just "am", all I want to do is zone out and just "be".

*Sigh*
It gets me down to think of this, but then I remember this:

Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

  1. Thanks for this post and the good scripture reminder. I've been having these same thoughts and frustrations, often leaving me wanting to quit my job! Why can't the work week only be three days?
